Summary: private label jeans production runs through eight predictable stages — inquiry, quotation, pattern, sample, fabric testing, bulk production (cut, sew, wash), quality control and export. Knowing what each stage needs from you is the fastest way to a smooth first order.
Stage 1 — The inquiry
Everything starts with a specification: line (women/men/kids), fit, fabric, wash, size breakdown and quantity. A tech pack is ideal, but a reference garment or even a clear photo brief works — our pattern room regularly reverse-engineers a fit from a physical sample. The more precise the input, the tighter the quotation.
Stage 2 — The quotation
A serious factory replies with three things in writing: fabric options with compositions and weights, a production timeline, and a price tied to quantity brackets. At ASF Jeans this lands within 24 hours of a complete inquiry.
Stage 3 — Pattern & first prototype
Patterns are drafted (or digitised from your block), then a first prototype is cut and sewn — typically in days, because our sample room shares a roof with the laundry. You review fit photos or the physical sample and comment.
Stage 4 — Salesman samples
Once the fit is approved, salesman samples in your chosen washes carry your labels and hangtags. These are the garments your buyers and e-commerce photography will see — they are produced on the same lines as bulk, not in a separate "sample quality".
Stage 5 — Fabric testing
Before a metre is cut for bulk, fabric is tested for strength, elasticity and shrinkage — including its reaction to your chosen wash. This is the unglamorous stage that prevents the expensive surprises.
Stage 6 — Bulk: cut, sew, wash
Fabric is spread and cut in layers, sewn on dedicated women's / men's / kids' lines with original YKK hardware, then washed and finished to the recorded recipe approved at sample stage. Bulk production typically runs 4–8 weeks depending on quantity and wash complexity.
Stage 7 — Quality control
Every lot passes visual inspection, measurement checks against the size chart, and hardware function tests. Defective pieces never leave the floor — they are the factory's cost, not yours.
Stage 8 — Labelling, packing, export
Your woven labels, leather patches, hangtags and polybags are attached; cartons are packed to your distribution plan and shipped with full export documentation to 180+ countries.
